I have been taking karate for almost three years. I think it's really weird when kids ask me if I think I can beat them up. I think it's a funny question because they don't understand what karate is. Karate is not about hurting others and being a bully. It is about making you stronger both mentally and physically.

Karate teaches you discipline, respect, and how to concentrate better. My memory has improved and I find it easier to follow directions. It also makes my body faster and stronger. I have learned that to improve I must practice a lot, even though sometimes I get bored doing the same things over and over . This teaches me discipline. I respect my sensei and others in my class by listening and be quite when the sensei is working with the others.

My concentration and memory has improved a lot since I started Karate. Memorizing the Kata's and concentrating on my form has forced me to think harder. My school work has improved a lot because of my Karate classes. I feel stronger and more physically fit. I can swing the bat faster and stronger at softball. I can kick harder and run faster at soccer. Because of all the things Karate has done for me, I have more confidence in my self.

Stephanie
